On Sunday, June 20th, Tatiana, Arjen And Roy on behalf of Niños en Contacto had a stand at the Millenniumplein at the Houtfestival in Haarlem. Together with the Hirda Foundation from Amsterdam, we represented the United Nations Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 2: Achieve universal primary education.
There was a lot of interest in the MDGs, and our stand was well attended. Apart from giving information, we organized a face painting competition for children. The kids were very creative and painted faces in the World Cup theme. We were happy to announce the winners of the three award-rounds.
It was a fun and enjoyable day, despite temperatures that could not be called summery yet.
Thanks to all visitors and to the winners of the face painting competition once again: congratulations!
On Queensday Tatiana, Emma, Arjen and Angelique started selling the second hand items donated to the foundation. We found a good spot on the Westerstraat and put up our banner “Niños en Contacto”. The weather was a bit disappointing, it was cold and it was raining a little bit. We had to put on some extra sweaters to stay warm. Of course we told the Orange dressed visitors that with their buy they would support our educational centre for children in Colombia. This helped to raise some extra money. After lunch the sun came out and we managed to have some fun in between the orange dressed people. Our objective was to raise 450 euro, that we unfortunately did not achieve but we did raise 290 euro. We will do better again next year!
On Queensday Niños en Contacto will be present with a stand in the Jordaan. Please come by our stand to learn about our foundation and to give your support. We will reward donations with gifts!
Saturday 27 February 2010 Niños en Contacto organizes BOWLING FOR COLOMBIA and more…
The celebration of Niños en Contacto’s 2nd anniversary was very fun. We celebrated with cake to look back at what we have achieved and how the foundation has grown in the past two years. But most importantly we look to the future with a positive thoughts and aspirations.
Thanks to all the friends who joined us, we really appreciate your support!!
The Board
We organized the marathon together with gym Palestra in Amsterdam West and salsa school Extremos.
Despite the freshly fallen snow a lot of motivated people showed up. We stepped, zumbad and dansed to latin american music. The tropical Salsa and Zumba moves made us forget the cold in Holland for a moment.
A big thanks to our participants and friends that helped us organize the Zumba marathon:
Mounir Laga
Eva van Driel (Palestra)
Fitness instructors Heidy, Diana and Jessica
Jennifer and Zayaad (salsa school Extremos)
Kia and Floortje (Projectjes.com)
