La Gloria Postrera
La Gloria Postrera was founded on September 17th 1995 and was legally constituted on March 10th 1997. It is registered in the Chamber of Commerce in Barranquilla, Colombia. The foundation was created to give specialized care to people with a range of problems such as: drug addiction, alcoholism, abuse, abandonment and displacement. In addition it provides support to the community with regard to social problems like: domestic violence, malnourishment in children, illiteracy and old people who have been forced into begging.
Up to today they serve as a home for people of different age groups. They have also established a child development center. This center is currently helping 120 young children aged between 5 and 12 years in the various aspects of their psychological well being, education and nutrition.
La Gloria Postrera works in close cooperation with local government, occasionally it recieves help from governmental and non-governmental national and international institutions. The foundation has in property a gated territory with a complex of buildings. Here the two story classroom building for the project Cultura Educational Center Rebolo is being built.
Jovenes en Contacto
This foundation has been created by the young people in Barranquilla that wish to contribute to a better situation for the children in Rebolo. This is a group of students and specialists in the area of the English language, Information Technology (IT) and Cultural events. This team will be responsible for managing the project and giving classes in computer literacy and in the English language to the children of Rebolo.
Jovenes en Contacto was founded on April 30th 2008 and is registered in the Chamber of Commerce of Barranquilla. It was created to promote and give educational, cultural, ecological and medical support to young people belonging to the most vulnerable sector of the population. In order to achieve these objectives they implement projects and actively cooperate with other local NGOs, local and central government and international organisations.
